Crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are generally done when a tooth has had a root canal to prevent it from fracturing but are also used for cosmetic and other restorative purposes as well. When a tooth has been filled over 50% it is advised to get a crown. A crown is also the last step to an implant. Because crowns are permanently cemented into place it is important to us that they match the shape and shade of your other teeth perfectly. We won’t place a crown unless you are 100% satisfied so don’t hesitate to tell the doctor if changes need to be made to create the most comfortable, best looking crown.
